I got this from California Girl, who got it the idea from another blog and who then lifted it from the ever-popular YouTube. Just had to share. As CG said. Wow.

The River and the Sea
"The river is within us, the sea is all about us . . ."
— T S Eliot (Four Quartets)
How does the river run within the sea?
Like the coyote, bounding deer-like
in the soy bean field last evening,
and behind him the honeyed sun
a young girl’s hair, cascading among
the trees. He distanced gradually
from the road we cycled, his body
now disappearing beneath
the shrubby, wavy green, now
reappearing in the bob and bounce
of a cork retreating from shore. Like
a dream. Like a secret stone that leaps
as the sun sets, an opal, a tiger’s eye,
to the horizon, until he and the sun are one.

Yea! Too good not to share. And I've watched it three times already!
Wow to the theme of love and love lost!
Wow to the breath-taking beauty of the actors!
Triple WOW (Wx3) for their so true-to-life acting in those scenes!
And last but not least, Wowwie to Diana Krall for her music!
Thanks for sharing, Susan!
Phenomenal video! But how the heck can Diana Krall be through with love, when she is married to Elvis Costello, the king of love and crooning to the one he loves?
How can 3 1/2 minutes be so mesmerizingly heartbreaking? Someone edited right into my emotional depths. Now I want to go watch an old movie.
How 'bout that Rita!
I love Diana Krall - and her hubby Elvis Costello. They are both so talented.
Hi Cali Girl! I hope you don't mind that I stole your idea! I know, I can't stop watching and listening, too.
Cottage Girl, I know, there just aren't enough superlatives to describe these actresses. There isn't a woman in Hollywood today who can hold a candle to those babes. And to think, they did it all without surgery or botox!
Diana Krall is probably my favorite musical artist. This is one of my favorite songs.
Sandy, haha, I guess that means Diana is a terrific actress, too!
Ruth, I know! Isn't that last frame of Rita a killer? And the one where she falls to her knees in front of Glenn Ford. Wow.
I have a feeling that these ladies were using their own heartbreak to deepen their performances.
I love those old movies. I noticed the scenes with Bergman were colorized though, and that just burns me up. I will not watch a colorized movie.
Char, you are so right! I wonder if their twins will be as talented as they are? Hope it runs in the family.
Of course, the 'Casablanca' scenes weren't colorized. I couldn't tell if the colorized ones with Bergman were from 'Notorious' or 'Anastasia'.
Way cool....I'm going to Amazon to look for a CD with her singing that song!! Thanks for sharing that vid!!
Thanks Tammy! You will love listening to Diana. I love having her singing in the background when I'm sitting in my big chair in front of the fireplace with a cup of tea or glass of wine and a good book.
I agree, I noticed the colorization, and I dislike it intensely.
Beautiful music...so sensual... and beautiful scenes to go with it...I'll have to watch some classics soon!
I love Diana Krall, such a talented Canadian gal.
What a treat to see all those divas of years gone by.
Thankyou Susan!!!What a fantastic voice, and I can remember seeing nearly all those films, what memories! Its a pity that films nowadays just don't have that glamour and mystery and romance, everything is far too explicit!
Very sensual clips. It made me feel all warm and wonderful. Perfect today as Hubby and I are celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary. Thanks for sharing the pure romance!
Oliag, I agree! Um,um,um! Classics never go out of style.
Natashya, I forgot that Diana is Canadian! Just one of many, many talented people who hail from your country.
Delphine, you are most welcome! I wish I could sing and play piano half as well as Diana Krall. Actually, I don't play the piano at all, unless you count air piano. :)
I agree with you about the films. They leave nothing to the imagination which is a kind of dumbing down, if you ask me. I really dislike explicit sex scenes.
Cindy, Happy Anniversary! I'm sure your hubby will appreciate my post for making you feel warm and wonderful! Just don't take the words of the song to heart, 'cause it doesn't sound as if you're "through with love".
