Here I am--one year later

Today is my first blog anniversary. My first post was simple and to the point. I've learned much since those early days. Heck, I didn't even know how to 'cut' and 'paste', even though David had tried and tried to explain it to me. I just had a mental block about it. Can I just say that cutting and pasting has changed my life. Some of those early posts took hours for me to complete because I was flying by the seat of my pants. There was a LOT of trial and error. Mostly on the error side. I've come a long way and actually feel comfortable giving advice on some of the techniques of blogging. I've had some wonderful help from some of my blog friends along the way. Thank you very much, bloggy friends!

This simple little blog has come to mean a lot to me. It's not as cerebral as some of the ones that I read and appreciate. Even though I'm a fairly intelligent person, it's just not me. I like to entertain and amuse and that has been my primary focus. And, of course, the showcasing of my wonderful grandchildren, of how they grow, and giving my friends and family a place to come and learn about them. And, also the antics of my fifteen chickens. They entertain me as well.

I want to thank all of you who visit me regularly and leave insightful, witty and supportive comments. It wouldn't be any fun doing this if it weren't for you, my friends. I appreciate all of you very much.

So, I'm sure some of you have wondered what the present "me" looks like. You've seen me as a child and as a high school graduate and a shadowy reflection on Ruth's blog. Anyhoooo, this is one I took myself this morning and you get to see me as I usually appear. No makeup and hair barely combed, in front of the computer in my pajamas.

Ohh lovely lovely lovely. I'm smiling and tearing up. Don't know why this touches that chord right now, but it does.

It's probably a combination of things: having you as my bloggy friend; seeing you look so lovely in that photo; appreciating what you blog about; your happy outlook; how you've expressed your own appreciation for the blog bonds you have, and I could go on.

I'm very glad you're here, dear Lady. Here's to another year! May it be filled with more good blog learning and lots of joy. Love you.

You look wonderful!

PS - How do you cut and paste? How do you get your text to do strikeouts?

Happy Anniversary Susan. There is so much to learn about blogging. I feel as though I'm mastering (sort of) blogspot and will next want to move everything on to Word Press. But, then I think of all the reading and understanding that will go into that and I go "NAAAAAAHHHH!"

Nice to see a photo of you. I've pondered putting up a current one of moi sans sunglasses. My husband used to rant against that because of identity theft but everyone is on blogs & FB & whatnot so it doesn't seem too dangerous any longer.

Thanks for being a good blogging friend, commentator and confidante.

Oh, Ruthie, my sweet! Your thoughtful comment brought tears to me eyes. You are such a wonderful and devoted friend and not just through the blog, even though that is where it began. Sometimes you just know when you've encountered a lifetime friend. I'm just sorry that it began so late in my life. I hope we have many, many years of friendship and blogging together.

Love you, bunches and bunches.

Thank you, Sandy! I really wasn't fishing for compliments though. :)

I do not know how I ever navigated myself on the computer without cut and paste! First, you highlight the area that you want to copy or cut, then right click on the highlighted area. Select cut or copy, then go to the place where you want to paste, left click on it (such as the URL address line), when the cursor blinks, right click and select paste and it will magically appear!

I'll have to email you about the strikethroughs, cause you can't use that tag in the comment form.

Cali Girl, thank you! (What is your real name BTW?)

I feel very comfortable here at Blogger, so I'll stick around here. Not saying that I couldn't learn a different one, but why aggravate yourself when you don't have to! Right?

I'm happy that you like my visits and I plan on sticking around for a long time! I love your blog! And it's amazing, isn't it? How close you feel to some of your blog friends? It's like we've always known each other.

Congrats at your one year anniversary. I'm only at 151 posts, so short of a 1/2 year. Hope I can stay inspired to keep going.
Glad I can across your blog, (my accident).

Susan said...

Thanks, Judy! I'm still less than 150 posts! I'm just counting mine by the calendar. Sometimes I get "blogged" down and don't feel like I have anything to contribute, so I just read and have fun commenting on the other blogs. It's all good.

I still think it's funny that I mistook you for my sister Judy in your first comment (or second?)! Ah, just another bloggy tale to tell!

Congratulations! I enjoy your blog a lot. My (1) year is coming up at the end of the month too.

Congrats on your anniversary and even without makeup and hair combed, the photo is very nice.

Tried to comment yesterday on Huey Lewis (I couldn't get the comment box to come up) - I didn't know the first song but new the second a-capella song. When was his hey-day? I missed him somehow.

Susan said...

Thanks, Diane! We should celebrate together!

Susan said...

Ladybug, you are too kind!

That comment box not appearing happens to me sometimes. I just go back later and it usually works.

Huey Lewis and the News came on the scene around 1982 and had hits until they started fading out in the early 90's. He's still out there performing. The voice has gotten a little lower and huskier, but he still looks and sounds great!

Awesome, Susan! Congratulations on blogging one year! I wonder if Halmark has a chart of gift ideas for bloggers like they do for wedding anniversaries ... Year One ... New reading glasses? Year Two ... a book of topic ideas ... Year Three ... a new cushion for the computer chair?

By the by, You look lovely! So glad we finally got to see you!

Keep em comin, Susan! You have a gift!

Susan, Congratulations on your first year! As the first person to acknowledge and encourage my blogging, you will always have a special place in my heart. Great to see the beautiful face that belongs to my blogging friend!

Thanks for filling me in on Huey, Susan. He's a good-looking guy.

Ooh, DMJ has just come back from seeing some council people about things 'fishing' and has brought back the most delightful shot of our Pondages, towards our place with fog all around. I'll put the shot up within the next few days.

Sorry about that >:))

I still have 6 months to go to my Anniversary, don't know if I'll last that long (blogging, I mean)..... LBx

Susan said...

CG, LOL! If blogging anniversaries go by the gifts one needs, I'm already at number 3 and possibly beyond! You are so funny!

Thank you for your sweet compliments! I plan to keep doing this as long as the eyes and the wrists, and I guess, my brain holds out!

Susan said...

Sweet Cindy, thank you, my friend! You are special to me, too. I knew when I clicked on your blog site from BYC that a lot of talent was going unnoticed. I'm just happy that I was able to get it noticed, at least a little.

XOXOXO

Susan said...

Karen, thank you! That means a lot coming from you. Your blogs are so inspirational. It lifts me up when I read there.

Susan said...

Ladybug, you are welcome!

Ooh, I can't wait to see the new pics of your place! I never thought I wanted to visit Australia, but if its overall beauty is anything like where you live, then I'm there!

Oh, you'll still be around in six months! You have a lot to say and show us. Thanks!

I'm glad I found your place through Willow's place. Though our worlds are well...world's apart I still find someone I know in your posts. I have a lot of reading of old posts to catch up.

Susan said...

Thanks, Tattered! It's always so nice to find like minds. It makes me happy that something about my writing and me pleases you. I live to please. At least you only have about a hundred to catch up on! :)

After reading this post I have so much to say...

First...I wanted to be a Mouseketeer rather than one of the Lennon Sisters...

Second...I am ashamed of my lack of grammar skills...Don't these three dots drive you nuts?

Third...You are a kindred soul and I love your posts and your picture is beautiful...

Fourth..I will email you about my sister...

Susan said...

Oliag, I am so touched. Thank you very much.

And, no, the dots don't drive me nuts. I love the dots. Sometimes they just fit when nothing else does, y'know? Even if they aren't technically correct.

I feel we are kindred spirits as well.

XOXOXO

How did I miss this??

Well, there is an award for you over on mine (where I go on a little about how I miss things).

Congrats on your blogiversary.
And it is great to have a face to link to the writing!

Susan said...

Hey Sanna, no worries! Thank you! Are you sure your eyes aren't blinded by my early morning face?

Thanks for the award!
