I stopped by at a neighbor's Open House this morning to see what kind of Christmas goodies might await me there. I found a cute three-foot snowman skier tree to put on my hearth and add to my snowman collection. I'll put that in a later post after I have the mantel decorated.
The real prizes I found were these three pieces of porcelain.
The first is from Germany--a hexagon-shaped cream pitcher. I love the lilies-of-the-valley which is my birth-month flower. It has an iridescent glaze that you can see on the spout and near the handle.
This one is from France and is square with dogwood blooms that wrap around two of the corners.
The diamond shape of this little vase(?) intrigued me. It's from Vienna, and it's only three inches high handles and all.
Now I just dare anyone to say that I'm not good to myself at Christmas!

Those are some lovely pieces! Very unique. I'm bad at Christmas when I'm shopping for others....it's 2 for them....one for me.....:)
Very nice pieces Susan! I'm also attracted by unusual shapes. The diamond shape is very intriguing. I wonder what it was intended for? I hope you will post some pics of your snowman collection. I don't really collect based on theme, at least I don't think I do. I have a lot of lighthouse pieces but only because my mom buys them for me because we live so close to the Marblehead lighthouse. You'd think I'd have a ton of chicken things or ducks things but I don't.
If you ever get bored come on up here and we'll rummage through Lene's Web together and see what treasures we can find!
I love your pieces! I love the last one. It's very unique. I'm a pack rat and avid collector too. I have a ton of chicken related collectables and much more.
These are right up my alley, so sweet. And it's fun to use them. I love pulling my pitchers and containers out for little flower arrangements, jellies, sauces, and stuff.
Nice to treat yourself to what you love.
Can you leave the dogwood one in your will to me? your loving sister-in-law Anita
Tammy, that's better than what I used to be which was 1 for them and 2 for me! Can't really do that anymore with 5 grandchildren! lol
Amy, I've already forbidden my kids to start buying me chicken gifts. I don't have room for any more collections! Although, I seem to be starting a porcelain collection, don't I?
I will definitely show everyone my snowman collection and I really will get that done this weekend. I can't believe how few days there are left until Christmas!
Your local treasure shop sounds very seductive. I feel I'm being lured! :)
Thanks, Shana! I don't really buy a lot of things, but when I see something that talks to me, I usually get it, unless it's too pricey. These pieces were each $5.00 and under, so not too bad, I think.
Ruth, I've been trying to decide how to use the non-cream pitcher ones. The square one is so thin and delicate I wouldn't dare put anything in it that would require using a spoon. I was thinking maybe cotton balls in the bathroom. The diamond one would look lovely with raspberry sauce or some orange marmalade, I think.
Anita! How sneaky you are! When are you gonna start your blog?
Of course, I'll put your name on it. You know what's mine is yours!
Love you!
