I took this test at HelloQuizzy. It's fun, you should try it.
By the way, I have to confess that I only scored 50% on the history test. My son with the history degree will be so proud!
Your result for The Commonly Confused Words Test...
English Genius
You scored 100% Beginner, 100% Intermediate, 100% Advanced, and 100% Expert!
You did so extremely well, even I can't find a word to describe your excellence! You have the uncommon intelligence necessary to understand things that most people don't. You have an extensive vocabulary, and you're not afraid to use it properly! Way to go!
Thank you so much for taking my test. I hope you enjoyed it!

Yay! Good for you smartee Valedictorian!!
I got the same score!! Sorry to say I was #75 in my class though (out of 400), but most of my siblings were valedictorians. Does that count? But see, my mom was an English teacher, so all this stuff came very easily. Correct English sounded right to my ears because that's what I heard at home. So lucky!
Cute graduation photo! So now I know how old you are, Susie Q. :D
But I know, I do get peeved when I see the wrong usage too.
Yay, Ruthie! I'm sure you were much smarter than I. I was first out of a class of....tah-dah...66! Woot, woot! Most of my education came from reading, reading, reading. That's all I did when I was a kid. Granted, most of it was sappy romance novels, but the authors did use proper English. So it sounded right to my ears, too.
I did alright! woot woot. I can tell it has been a while though.
English Genius
You scored 100% Beginner, 100% Intermediate, 87% Advanced, and 80% Expert!
Yay, Char! A big pat on the back!
That was fun! I did better than I thought I would...
You scored 100% Beginner, 100% Intermediate, 93% Advanced, and 80% Expert!...
..there were no questions about the constant inappropriate use of elipses! LOL
Guilty, Oliag! I use them improperly all the time. Just call it poetic license! Punctuation is not on my personal genuis scale....obviously. LOL
Yay for you on the test!
I need to get my brother to take it-he has been a Language Arts teacher for years.
I could tell you were a smarty pants! I, too, have an addiction to commas. My college comp prof used to nag me about my comma usage. Oy! Great picture of you wearing your smarty pants outfit!
Tipper, does your brother correct you all the time? My kids correct me constantly, especially the history one. He never lets me get a mistake by him!
Amy, you know, I figure those commas and semi-colons are there on the keyboard for a reason and we should use them often, lest they feel lonely. :)
Thanks for the compliment, too bad I don't still look that young! LOL
Can I join the English Genius club with you and Ruth??
I never went to my graduation...
(I personally like commas and...)
i love ur header!
Sanna, of course you can join our club! We will get together on a monthly basis and speak perfect English to each other! LOL
I love commas and......,too!
Thank you, renaye!
I can relate... I was an English major before I changed to art, but the proper English rules definitely stuck. I'll overhear my daughter correcting her friends and can't help but snicker. Nice to know she's listening to me.
Valedictorian? pretty impressive!!
I took the Commonly Confused Words test at HelloQuizzy, but it didn't give me my score at the end.
Cindy, I'm sure you scored 100%! Must have been a glitch. Can't imagine, because we all know glitches never happen on the internet. ;)
Believe me, you didn't have to be extremely smart to be valedictorian at my school. I had a couple of very good English teachers in school and I read all the time.
Isabel's still young. Wait until she starts correcting you. It's fun. :)
Susan-I need your mailing address. I have a little something for you. Could you email the address to me at cookingforcomfort@gmail.com? Thanks!
First - I love commas too. I love to sprinkle them liberally throughout my writing.
Second - I got 100%, 100%, 100% and 80% expert - missed one somewhere but not too bad.
That was a fun test, thanks!
Oh Jennifer, what could it be, what could it be (jumping up and down with excitement!!!)? I will do it pronto!
YAY, Natashya! Apparently, I'm not the only one who enjoys the lowly comma. It seems I have several compadres. :)
I'll bet the one you missed was that tricky "all of the above" one. I almost didn't pick that answer, but decided to go with my first instinct.
