Columbus Dispatch's political cartoonist, Jeff Stahler, also has a nationally syndicated one-panel comic strip. About once a month, Jeff holds a contest to help him caption one of his comic strips. The winner gets his or her name on that panel as co-cartoonist. I tried one time, but didn't win. Maybe you're funnier than I am! Give it a try!

Don and I have tried our cleverness at the New Yorker's weekly cartoon caption contests. We haven't won either.
I always come up with smart, quippy comments a month afterwards. I'm not good at thinking on my feet!
I never win those things either. I love your quip.
funny! I wouldn't even try for that contest. I do know I'm way too tactile for electronic books!
As for quips, they either come to me instantly or not at all. Probably why I wouldn't make a good cartoonist.
I also love the feel of the book; the heft of it, the paper, the font, the smell. But I think it would be kind of nice to have a Kindle for long trips for less weighty packing.
