The River and the Sea
"The river is within us, the sea is all about us . . ."
— T S Eliot (Four Quartets)
How does the river run within the sea?
Like the coyote, bounding deer-like
in the soy bean field last evening,
and behind him the honeyed sun
a young girl’s hair, cascading among
the trees. He distanced gradually
from the road we cycled, his body
now disappearing beneath
the shrubby, wavy green, now
reappearing in the bob and bounce
of a cork retreating from shore. Like
a dream. Like a secret stone that leaps
as the sun sets, an opal, a tiger’s eye,
to the horizon, until he and the sun are one.

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.

You and your lazy cats are too funny!
OH! TOO funny! I love the 2nd shot of them both baring their bellies!:)
did you explain to 'em that they are supposed to be up mousing? :-)
Why do you have furry logs in your living room? Ooooh, those are CATS! LOL I like the last one especially...dead kitty train action.
They definitely have CAT-itude! I don't know who was lazier Sunday.....them or me! And unless the mouse actually ran up to them and jumped in one of their mouths, I don't think it would have been in much danger!
Joanna, welcome to my blog!
They don't look lazy at all - they are practicing their synchronized cat dancing routine. Aren't they?
Yes! That's it! Why didn't I think of that? LOL They are quite the little dancers!
No one quite has the Lazing Around pose going for them as much as a cat. I miss mine, the kids took them with, so now they are grand-cats.
Thanks for the photo tips, I'm new to the digital SLR world, but loving it! All my faces are washed out - too bright a flash? Or they are fuzzy with the zoom lense.
I LOVE your chubbie kitties! So cute!
As I type this my lazy fat Tony cat is sprawled out right by me!
