Matthew looks cute sleeping on Poppy's tummy. Notice the Ohio University shirt. Maybe he's trying to influence Matthew's future college choice.

The River and the Sea
"The river is within us, the sea is all about us . . ."
— T S Eliot (Four Quartets)
How does the river run within the sea?
Like the coyote, bounding deer-like
in the soy bean field last evening,
and behind him the honeyed sun
a young girl’s hair, cascading among
the trees. He distanced gradually
from the road we cycled, his body
now disappearing beneath
the shrubby, wavy green, now
reappearing in the bob and bounce
of a cork retreating from shore. Like
a dream. Like a secret stone that leaps
as the sun sets, an opal, a tiger’s eye,
to the horizon, until he and the sun are one.

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
~President Dwight David Eisenhower

Thanks for visiting my blog! athough I'm so busy with my mom, and it's going to be a drag to read for awhile with all the chaos that is surrouding me. Hard to stay positive and calm. I can see we have the same taste in books-what a joy your grandkids are-and your cool farm! I'll be back!
Thanks for visiting! Take care of yourself, too. See ya!
Aww, how cute! Little Matthew looks deep in thought, perhaps considering OU? Lauren is so cute with her little blond pigtails. There is some sort of virus going around up here too. It's affected a lot of the people at work. I think it's called "summer". ;-)
Amy, that virus at work is probably called heat exhaustion! I feel badly for you having to work in that stifling heat. I hope it eases up soon.
Matthew looks just like his daddy did and hopefully he will consider OU. We sure couldn't convince any of our kids to go there. It's a great school! Go Bobcats!
